I’m a self-taught artist with an interest history, folk art, and decorative painting. I grew up in rural Pennsylvania, surrounded by farms and antiques. I remember a trip to an antique show with my parents and there was a special exhibit on Pennsylvania German Fraktur, from that moment on, I was hooked. I did everything I could to learn more about Folk Art, and the decorative arts of the 18th and early 19th century Pennsylvania Germans.

My main interest is in the art of Fraktur, and since I couldn’t afford to purchase an original Fraktur, I started to create my own. My first attempts were horrible, but with practice and research my technique improved. I’m still learning and doing the best I can to improve my craft. I mostly create fraktur reproductions using original references, or adaptations inspired by original references. Each Fraktur is hand inked, painted, and framed in a, traditional style, grain-painted frame, or an antique frame. I also paint furniture in an early Pennsylvania German folk art style.

I have been listed in the Early American Life’s Directory of Traditional American Craft since 2000.
